UMIA developed the online education program to provide our insureds with access to critical risk management education from the convenience of their offices or homes. As always, the goal of our risk management programs is to improve patient safety by improving the quality of patient care. Our programs are data driven and focus on the reduction of patient injury with a commensurate reduction in malpractice claims. By completing the online education program for your specific specialty and risk class, you will be able to identify areas of risk and will be offered recommendations to ameliorate that risk.

Ultimately, improvement in the quality of medicine comes from changes implemented by individual physicians. At the end of the program, you will be asked to make a commitment to change one or two areas of your practice where you believe you can reduce risk of patient injury and/or medical error. The presenters of our online programs are mostly UMIA insured physicians who have a long standing interest in and dedication to risk management. Some others are invited to participate because of their specific knowledge and expertise. All have extensive experience in caring for patients and have first-hand knowledge of the problems physicians encounter in their practices on a daily basis.
